The primary objective of this call is to support the direct and immediate provision of contraception and safe abortion services prioritizing young people, particularly adolescent girls, LGBTI+ youth, and youth living with disabilities. Operative access to contraception and safe abortion are integral are prioritized elements of Norway’s work for women’s rights and gender equality. Global efforts for SRHR have been hit hard by cuts and are experiencing coordinated political opposition from several countries. The increased support is intended to continue efforts to save lives and enhance women’s ability to live free and equal lives and with young people as a particular target group.
The call for proposals is linked to the outcome number 2 in Norad’s SRHR portfolio. Due to the acute shortfall in sexual and reproductive health services, access to contraceptives and safe abortion are the primary areas for this call.
Civil society actors are critical in providing access to life saving SRHR services, especially where public health systems are less accessible. The implementation period is 6 months, targeting urgent needs. The call for proposals does not open for applicants to establish consortiums with new/other organizations.
