The world is facing a global learning crisis - more children than ever have access to school, and yet learning levels are falling. At the same time, the number of out-of-school children remain stubbornly high and the commitment to public education is wavering.
Against this backdrop, the report explores the role leadership plays in improving the quality of education. It finds that leadership is the second most important factor – after teachers – for explaining variations in learning outcomes.
The Director of the Report, Manos Antoninis, is coming to Norway for the launch to present the report, followed by a Q&A session. Subsequently, two panels composed of school leaders, experts and civil society representatives will look closer at the findings. One panel will examine the main findings in the Norwegian context. The second panel will discuss possible implications of the findings for organizations and partners working in developing countries.
The Global Education Monitoring Report has the global mandate to report on the progress on Sustainable Development Goal 4. The report is prepared by an independent team hosted by UNESCO.
