Norad is an administrative and specialist body for development cooperation and supports the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Climate and the Environment in achieving the goals of Norwegian development policy and promoting sustainable development. The UN's sustainability goals, climate goals and human rights form the basis of Norad's work. Norad is based in Oslo and has around 320 employees.

Hydropower plant contributing to cheaper and more reliable electricity in East Africa
This year, a hydropower plant was put into operation at Rusumo Falls, with aid from Norway. With a capacity of 80 megawatts, which is equivalent to the electricity consumption of more than half a million households, the hydropower plant makes an important contribution to clean and stable energy in Burundi, Tanzania and Rwanda.
