Stream B: REDD+ Relevant Commodity Supply Chains

How can we accelerate progress toward deforestation-free supply chains?

Parallel B 1

Voluntary efforts to remove deforestation from supply chains

This session will provide an opportunity to learn about the commitments made by producer and consumer-facing companies to eliminate deforestation from supply chains, and to discuss how to realize synergies with REDD+ initiatives.  The key questions to be addressed would be:  What can companies do to promote sustainable commodity production and reduce deforestation? What are the key barriers and possible innovations related to wider adoption of commitments to deforestation-free supply chains, and to accelerated/transparent implementation?  What are the potential synergies between voluntary certification initiatives and REDD+?  What are the limits to these approaches?
