Invitation to the Norwegian Launch of the Global Education Monitoring Report 2021/2: Non-State Actors in Education: Who Chooses? Who Loses?

15 March 2022 from 9:00 to 13:00. Lærernes Hus, Osterhausgate 4A in Oslo.

The Global Education Monitoring Report reviews progress towards SDG 4 and explores emerging  issues relevant for the education discourse and policy development. The theme for the 2021/2 report is the role of non-state actors in education. Non-state actors provide schooling, but are also engaged at all levels of education and spheres of influence. The report invites policy makers to examine the relationship with non-state actors in terms of fundamental choices: between equity and freedom of choice, between encouraging initiative and setting standards; between groups of varying means and needs; between SDG4-commitments that need to be met immediately and those to be met progressively; and between education and other social sectors.

In this meeting Manos Antoninis, Director of the Global Education Monitoring Report, will be in Oslo to present the 2021/2 report. The presentation will be followed by discussions about the key findings and recommendations in the report both related to the monitoring part and the role of non-state actor in education.

After the meeting, there will be a light lunch and an opportunity to mingle and continue discussions.

The event is organized by Norad together with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Union of Education Norway and the Norwegian GCE-network.
