Arup Banerji vil innlede (ca. 30 min), etterfulgt av en kommentar fra Eva Kløve, PhD kandidat ved det økonomiske institutt/ ESOP ved Universitetet i Oslo og påfølgende diskusjon. Møtet vil fokusere på følgende:
The World Bank Group is currently developing a Common Vision for the World Bank Group. The strategy sets two goals: End extreme poverty and promote shared prosperity. What role does social protection systems play in reaching these goals?
- What are the characteristics of social protection systems, including cash transfers and social insurance?
- What have we learned about the effect of such systems from research and evaluations?
- How could we as a donor, also bilaterally, contribute, and what role could and should civil society organizations play?
Also, Norway will support the development of schemes for facilitating direct cash transfers to vulnerable groups, and provide funding for such transfers for limited periods in low income and lower middle income countries. This is stated in the recent white paper “Sharing for Prosperity”.
