Victoria Tauli-Corpuz
Victoria Tauli-Corpuz is the UN Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and an indigenous leader of the Kankanaey Igorot people of the Cordillera region in the Philippines.
She was listed on a terror list along with several other defenders of indigenous peoples’ rights by the Philippine government earlier this year. Her next report to the UN is about the criminalization of indigenous peoples.
Patrick Alley
Patrick Alley is Director and Co-founder of Global Witness. Since co-founding Global Witness and posing as a timber buyer in Global Witness’s first investigations into the Thai-Khmer Rouge timber trade in 1995, Patrick has taken part in over fifty field investigations in South East Asia, Africa and Europe and in subsequent advocacy activities.
Patrick has developed several of Global Witness’ campaigns and focuses on corruption, conflict resources, forests and land & environmental defenders. He is a board director of Global Witness and is involved in the organisation’s strategic leadership.
Claudelice Silva dos Santos
Claudelice Silva dos Santos is the sister of José Claudio Ribeiro da Silva and sister-in-law of Maria do Espirito Santos, who were killed in 2011 defending their land in the state of Pará.
She studies law and is traditional Amazon extractivist, environmental activist and feminist. From the Amazon she struggles against violence against environmental defenders. She currently has a voluntary fellowship in a research project on Restorative Justice at the Federal University of South and Southeast Pará (UNIFESSPA).
Fran Lambrick
Fran Lambrick, is co-founder and director of Not1 More, an environmental campaign group that supports frontline environmental defenders and investigates the root causes of environmental conflict.
She has over ten years experience working as an academic, filmmaker and campaigner on environmental change and conflict.
Felipe Milanez
Felipe Milanez is currently assistant professor at the Federal University of Reconcavo of Bahia. Milanez has written over a hundred journalistic contributions on violence in the Amazon, indigenous peoples, deforestation, violence against environmentalists, and voluntary isolated indigenous peoples. He has produced and directed the documentary Toxic Amazon (with VICE.com) and The Guarani Struggle.
Christopher Stewart
Dr Christopher Stewart heads the Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability function for Olam International, a global “seed-to-shelf” agricultural business with operations in 66 countries. Olam grows, sources, processes, trades and supplies around 47 different food and fibre commodities including cocoa, coffee, cotton, edible nuts, grains, spices & vegetable ingredients and wood products, to over 22,000 customers.
Olam prides itself in putting sustainability at the heart of its business model, through a uniquely close association with its 4.7 million farmer suppliers, the vast majority of which are smallholders in developing countries.
Christopher joined Olam in 2013 to oversee the design and sustainable management of Olam’s palm and rubber plantations in Gabon. He now leads Olam’s drive to translate its Core Purpose, Reimagining Global Agriculture, into sustainable business strategies, addressing our common challenge of producing food sustainably within living landscapes, contributing to a triple positive impact on prosperous farmers and farming systems, thriving communities and healthy ecosystems.
