Country meeting Malawi

Topic: Malawi’s macroeconomic situation – How does it affect the country and its population and the poor in particular - how to assist a country in continuous imbalance? And what is the impact on our thematic support to ex health and education?

Agenda:

• Norad welcomes the participants and provides an overview of Norwegian assistance to Malawi in 2022.
• Ambassador Ingrid Marie Mikelsen presents the political situation in Malawi and Norway’s co-operation with Malawi.
• The World Bank Country Manager for Malawi, Hugh Riddell, provides a short introduction on the macro-economic situation, conditions for support. And also add some insight into how the bank has supported Malawi in these difficult times, has the country improved and how are ordinary citizens affected.
• Former Norwegian Church Aid country manager for Malawi, Håvard Hovdhaugen, presents challenges working in Malawi.
• Questions and discussions.
