Coordinator, SEEG Network and MapBiomas

Tasso Azevedo is the coordinator of the SEEG (System of Estimation of GHG Emissions) and MapBiomas (Project of Anual Land Cover Mapping of Brasil) initiative of the Climate Observatory in Brazil. Former Head and Chief of Brazilian Forest Service.  He was Co-designer of the Plan to Combat Deforestation in the Amazon and designer of the Amazon Fund.

Alberto Tavares

Director of Development Company of Environmental Services, Acre-CDSA

Alberto Tavares is Director of Development Company of Environmental Services in Acre-CDSA (Brazil). Economist with expertise in leading Governmental and NGOs and managing projects for Amazon Sustainable Development and Climate Change Mitigation. Worked for 10 years at WWF-Brazil, as Office Coordinator in Acre State and since 2013 leads CDSA with special focus to Develop Innovative Financing Mechanisms for Environment services incentives to support the consolidation of the Jurisdictional REDD+ Acre´s Program. 

Carlos Rittl

Climate Observatory

Dr. Carlos Rittl has led the Greenpeace Climate Campaign in Brazil (2005-2007), served as climate change adviser for the Foreign Commonwealth Office of United Kingdom Government, at the British Embassy in Brazil (2008-2009), and coordinated WWF Brazil's Programme on Climate Change and Energy (2009-2013).   Since 2013, Dr. Rittl serves as Executive Secretariat for the Brazilian Climate Observatory, a coalition formed in 2002 that comprises 41 non-governmental organizations and social movements in Brazil.  He also holds position as board member for different organizations in Brazil, as Iclei Brazil, Uma Gota no Oceano and Fundo Socioambiental Casa. He is also one of the founding members of Brazil's Coalition on Climate, Forests and Agriculture, a multi-stakeholder forum formed in 2015 comprising 131 organizations among NGOs, business associations, companies and experts, being also a member as its steering committee. Dr. Rittl has recently been appointed as deputy member of the new National Commission for REDD+ in Brazil, as representative of Brazilian civil society.

Roberto Waack is Founding member and Chairman of the Board of Amata S.A., a Brazilian forestry company. Board member of GRI - Global Reporting Initiative, Ethos Institute and WWF-Brazil. Former Chairman of the Board of FSC - Forest Stewardship Council. Former Board member of IBGC – Brazilian Institute of Corporate Governance. Former CEO of Amata S.A., Orsa Florestal and director of pharmaceutical companies. Roberto is a biologist with a master degree in business administration by the University of Sao Paulo.
