Call for proposal to support research and evidence generation on comprehensive and safe abortion care
The purpose of this call for proposals is to support research that strengthens sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), especially safe abortion and contraception, through evidence generation and dissemination of knowledge. Priority will be given to initiatives that help address key evidence gaps and make SRHR knowledge, with particular emphasis on safe abortion, more accessible, relevant and usable for policy, advocacy and public debate, particularly in politically sensitive, fragile and restrictive contexts.
Norad aims to enter into one grant agreement for the period 2026-2027 under this call for proposals. Available funding under this call is approximately NOK 10 million. The implementation period is six months, starting from November 2026. International non-profit organisations will be prioritized.

No applicants are entitled to a grant under this call for proposals, even if all criteria are met. Competition for grant funds is considerable, and applicants are expected to demonstrate strong technical and administrative competence and capacity.
Decisions on the award of grants will be made following an overall assessment of the applications against the criteria set out in the grant scheme regulations as well as the objectives and priorities of the call for proposals. In the final assessment of applications, consideration will also be given to the composition of a comprehensive portfolio.
Applications must be complete, with all mandatory fields filled in and all mandatory attachments included. Incomplete applications will normally be rejected. Applicants are therefore requested to read the call for proposals carefully to ensure that all requirements are met before submission.
