Location: Auditorium, Norad (Bygdøy Allé 2)

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Norad, in collaboration with the Norwegian-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce, invite you to a seminar on 21 April where you will get a structured review of the EBRD's efforts in Ukraine, and how private actors can get involved.

Ukraine's reconstruction needs are enormous. Over the next 10 years, it is estimated that Ukraine's reconstruction needs will amount to almost 3 times Ukraine's GDP in 2025. The destruction is putting pressure on economic activity, while reconstruction can create new activity. The energy sector has been particularly affected. A stable and reliable power supply is essential for the protection of civilians, economic stability, and long-term reconstruction. A significant share of the international support – including Norway's contribution – is therefore directed towards the energy sector in Ukraine.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has been one of the most important players in Ukraine for a number of years, and is today one of the largest institutional investors for the reconstruction of the economy in Ukraine.

The EBRD is an important partner for Norway's efforts in Ukraine and Moldova. Norway's total contribution to the EBRD amounts to almost NOK 7.7 billion since 2022. The support has gone to the purchase of gas, maintenance of the power grid, the development of new decentralised power supply, energy efficiency measures in municipal infrastructure, support for a war insurance scheme, and more.
