Future of Aid 2040: Pathways to Transformation

Time: Friday November 21, 2025 - 08.30 - 10.30
Location: Norad (Bygdøy Allé 2) or digitally

Welcome to the breakfast launch for Future of Aid 2040: Pathways to Transformation, hosted by NORCAP and Norad.

Background

The aid system is under pressure. Climate disasters, conflict, shrinking humanitarian space and tighter budgets are reshaping how we respond to global challenges. At the same time, there is a call for more locally led and fair solutions. We urgently need an honest debate about the future and transformation of the aid system.

The IARAN Future of Aid 2024 report picks up where the 2030-initiative left off – building on the shifts already underway and the reflections sparked across the sector.

Developed through IARAN’s foresight and drawing on diverse perspectives from across the Majority World, it challenges us to rethink how aid can remain relevant, legitimate and impactful in a rapidly changing world. Rather than offering one solution, it lays out possible futures, opens space for critical reflection and some tough choices. The future of aid is changing. Are you in?
