Norad aims to enter into approximately 20 grant agreements for the period 2026 - 2028. Applications between NOK 15-75 million per year will be prioritised. In exceptional cases, contracts shorter or longer than 3 years can be considered. Applicants are encouraged to form consortia of organisations that together could meet the objectives of the call.
Preference will be given to proposals that will contribute to one or several of the following strategic areas:
- Supporting ambitious policies for sustainable forest and land use in tropical forest countries
- Improved rights and livelihoods for Indigenous Peoples, and local communities in tropical forest countries
- Reduced forest crime
- Sustainable commodity production, trade, and finance
The priority geographic focus for funding is countries with which NICFI has established formal strategic partnerships. This includes Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, DR Congo, Gabon, Ethiopia, and Indonesia. Other tropical forest countries important for maintaining the integrity of tropical forests across national boundaries may also be prioritised. In addition, targeted activities can take place in countries that play a key role in limiting global demand for deforestation-risk commodities.
All applications must be submitted in English through the Grants Portal. Please read the call text carefully.
