Norway’s Sovereign Guarantee Scheme is now open for applications. The purpose of the scheme is to mobilise investments in renewable energy in low- and middle-income countries by reducing risk and thereby lowering capital costs for investors.

Norad’s thematic portfolios

Thematic portfolio management helps improve the effectiveness of Norwegian development assistance by viewing related initiatives in context and identifying how they collectively contribute to broader development goals. The aim is to ensure that Norwegian aid funding is used strategically and based on evidence, in support of key development policy objectives.

Allocations

This autumn Norad has entered into agreements with eight civil society and journalist organisations under a call for proposals on “Financial integrity, economic justice and domestic resource mobilization.”

Norway is allocating more than NOK 1 billion to strengthen civil society in developing countries in 2025. Civil society and local organisations are crucial in promoting justice, democracy and human rights.

Norway enters into agreements with 27 different projects. This includes both Norwegian and international companies.

The Knowledge Bank

The Knowledge Bank coordinates and strengthens technical cooperation between public sector institutions in areas where Norway has relevant expertise and experience.
