As world events «flood the zone”, what role for investigative journalism and independent reporting?

Time: 17th of March - 13:00-14:00
Location: Norwegian Press House, Skippergata 24

Keynote – Gerard Ryle, Director (ICIJ)

Gerard Ryle is the director of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalism (ICIJ), a world leading collaborative of investigative journalists. ICIJ took the center stage of the attention of the global media landscape in 2016, as they coordinated the efforts of media outlets investigating the document leak Panama Papers. Today, ICIJ continues to coordinate and support large scale collaborative efforts between investigative journalists, including in developing countries with the financial support of Norad.

We invite Gerard Ryle to give his reflections on how investigative journalists are responding to the extremely fast-moving pace of world events, and what he sees as their most important role going forward, with a particular focus on ICIJs efforts to support independent, investigative reporting in developing countries.
