Kanti (Kaphley) Risal

Manager Gender, Poverty and Equity, Multi Stakeholder Forestry Program, Nepal- SDC/SSU

Ms. Risal has more than 15 years of experience in the field of Gender, Poverty & Equity in the Program and project context of Forestry, Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management and Local Governance. Her work includes development for landscape based payment for ecosystem project under the Plan Vivo standard of UK. She has also contributed from LFP/UK Aid with International Forestry Advisor from a socio-economic perspective during the preparation of Nepal’s Readiness Proposal. In addition, Ms. Risal has worked with the Social and Environmental safeguards and Gender mainstreaming in REDD+ policy and strategy team in Nepal.

 Prior to her current occupation, Ms. Risal has worked with the Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC) in MSFP, UK AID in Livelihoods and Forestry Program, USAID/AED Women’s Peace building Program, and with UNDP Nepal in Gender mainstreaming program and Local Governance Program. She was also engaged in Tsunami damage assessment and gender mainstreaming guidelines preparation for Tsunami Recovery Program with the UNDP, Maldives.

Ms. Risal will attend Parallel A1 Tenure and land use planning – important tool for shaping landscape approaches to REDD+.
