Norad's strategy towards 2030
Norad shall contribute to achieving the sustainability goals by 2030.
The sustainability goals are the guidelines for Norad's strategy towards 2030.
In Norad's new strategy, the sustainability goals are the framework for the work Norad does. The goals require a joint effort from authorities, civil society, the private sector and academia - in Norway and in all countries.
- The great progress we have seen in the world in the last 30 years has slowed down, and with covid-19 many more people are also affected by poverty and hunger. Social inequality is increasing. At the same time, man-made climate change threatens our entire existence. We must do everything we can to achieve the sustainability goals - the world's most important goal! Says Norad director Bård Vegar Solhjell.
The strategy in a nutshell
In short, Norad's strategy towards 2030 is that:
- The sustainability goals are the framework for Norad's work. We will contribute to achieving the goals!
- Our primary task is to put money to work together with partners.
- The work must be based on knowledge and insight - facts must have the power.
- With this strategy, we have made it clear what we are going to achieve and how we are going to achieve it. It is an essential tool for maneuvering towards 2030, says Solhjell.
Five development areas
The work on the strategy has identified five areas where Norad needs to change as an organization in order to successfully achieve its goals. The five areas are:
- Putting money to work in a more strategic way
- A central partner in sustainable development
- Contribute to a greener world
- Be innovative in the development of aid
- Strengthen and systematize the development, sharing and use of knowledge in Norad
For the best possible goal achievement, Norad has prioritized several initiatives for the various areas in the first 18 months of the strategy period. The five development areas must be reviewed and revised regularly during the strategy period towards 2030.
