Real-Time Evaluation of Norway’s International Climate and Forest Initiative
In 2010, the Evaluation Department started a Real-Time Evaluation of Norway’s International Climate and Forest Initiative. In 2015, a new phase of the evaluation was initiated.
The purpose of the real-time evaluation is to provide independent documentation of results during the implementation of the initiative. Lessons from the evaluations are continuously communicated to the stakeholders involved and the public.
Norway announced during the climate negotiations in Bali in December 2007 to invest up to three billion a year to REDD+.
REDD+ is about reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries. Norway's International Climate and Forest Initiative was established in 2008. In 2013, the Parliament adopted a continuation of the initiative until 2020. The initiative is led by the Norwegian Ministry of Climate and Environment.
The Evaluation Department entered into a framework agreement for the real-time evaluation of the 2010-2014 period with a consortium led by LTS International. In 2015, a new framework agreement was signed with the consulting firm AECOM International.
