Info from the Washington, D.C. Dialogue Conference

Notes from the EduApp4Syria Dialogue Conference in Washington, D.C. and sound recording of the Q&A session are available on this page.

Dialogue conferences have been held in Oslo and Washington, D.C. in order to get input from the market on the innovation competition to develop a smartphone learning application for Syrian children.

The dialogue conference in Washington, D.C. was held October 29th with a slightly different agenda than the dialogue conference held in Oslo three days earlier. The innovation challenge was presented.

In addition Alf Inge Wang, who will be the technical coodinator of the innovation competition, played the quiz game Kahoot! with the conference participants. He also posed several opinion questions through Kahoot! The poll showed that a majority of those who responded believed an engaging educational game could have several beneficial effects.

In the last part of the conference organizers responded to questions from the audience. Topics included testing, costs and funding, inclusive design, property rights, commercial opportunities, organizational conditions and considerations about potential trade-offs and synergies between objectives of literacy and psychosocial wellbeing.
