Patrick David Hardcastle
Pat Hardcastle is a forester with 45 years’ experience of forestry in 40 countries worldwide working for numerous governments and multilateral institutions, civil society organisations and the private sector. He spent 12 years in Malawi Forestry Department then 10 years teaching at universities of Oxford and at Aberdeen.
His wide experience encompasses temperate and tropical plantations and natural forest management, economics, rural development, institutional change, national/international policy and related processes. He brings clear understanding of the linkages from forest level to policy level. His work encompasses forests and climate change, biodiversity, livelihoods and wood production in all their complexity.
Mr. Hardcastle will attend Parallel C4: Improving national systems for REDD+ monitoring and MRV – from national to the community level.
