Monica Julissa De Los Rios de Leal

Director of the Institute of Climate Change (IMC) of the Brazilian State of Acre

Monica Julissa De Los Rios de Leal is the Director of the Institute of Climate Change (IMC) of the Brazilian State of Acre and has been working for the Government of Acre since 2009. She has a MSc. Degree in Ecology and Natural Resources Management from the Federal University of Acre (UFAC) and has been working with monitoring of deforestation and forest fires in the southwestern Amazon for the last 10 years. At the IMC, Monica is responsible for the implementation of the Acre State System of Incentives for Environmental Services – SISA that include a Jurisdictional Carbon Program as a strategy to establish a low emission development at subnational level.
