Christiana Figueres
Christina Figueres was appointed Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in 2010, and in 2013 was reappointed for a second three year term.
With a long and distinguished career in climate change negotiations, she was a member of the Costa Rican climate change negotiating team 1995- 2009, a member of the Executive Board of the Clean Development Mechanism, and a Vice President of the UNFCCC Bureau. She conceived the new financial instrument "programmatic CDM" with four ground-breaking publications that marked global thinking on this novel concept.
Christiana has contributed with a video message which will be shown during Plenary 1: REDD+ Negotiations and Finance.
