RAN pressures consumer companies to adopt responsible palm oil policies

In October 2013, RAN undertook a field trip to document the impacts of palm oil expansion into the Leuser Ecosystem. The findings were published in a case study titled “Globally Important Leuser Ecosystem threatened By Conflict Palm Oil” that has since been used to pressure consumer companies to adopt responsible palm oil policies that would prohibit the sourcing of palm oil produced from within the Leuser Ecosystem.

RAN publicly exposed the impact of new „Qanun RTRWA‟, the Provincial Law on Spatial Planning that was recently approved by Aceh Parliament and ran an online campaign to urgently call on Indonesia's President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and the Minister of Home Affairs, Mr Gamawan Fauzi, to prevent this new plan from being formally accepted and legalized by Indonesia‟s Central Government.
