US$60 million proposal for DR Congo’s largest-ever forest carbon emissions reduction project submitted to World Bank Carbon Fund
WWF has supported the government of DR Congo in drafting the first and current revised versions of the Emissions Reductions Program Idea Note (ER-PIN) to the World Bank with numerous other organisations also contributing. The REDD+ preparation activities in DRC have also succeeded in demonstrating some of the important co-benefits of REDD+, including the recognition of land rights by indigenous peoples and local communities. -

The Village of Merabu, Indonesia is granted village forest (Hutan Desa)
In December 2013, the village of Merabu, a close-knit community of 235 people of mainly Dayak Lebo descent, was granted hutan desa (village forest). Hutan Desa gives the village the right to manage the forest in their area through an arrangement between the community and the governments.
