Call for Proposals: Combating Food Insecurity in Sub-Saharan Africa through Civil Society 2023-2028
This call for applications is now closed.
Norway has recently launched a new strategy for its development assistance to combat global food insecurity. Civil society plays a key role in organizing food producers and transforming value chains. With this call for concept notes, Norad aims to enter into 4-8 agreements up to a total of 200 million NOK annually.
Deadline: 14 April 2023, 13:00 CET
Civil society organizations may apply for support to projects that contribute to climate and biodiversity friendly increases in productivity for small-scale food producers, reduced food loss and waste. Effective local value chains and markets, and small-scale food producers’ access to these markets is key to overcoming food insecurity for small-scale producers.
“We are particularly looking for innovative approaches to increase women’s and youths’ control over productive assets and access to markets, secure tenure rights for women, youth, and indigenous people, and inclusion for people living with disabilities,” says Norad’s director for Climate, Energy and Environment Stig Traavik.
Traavik emphasizes that the call is competitive and encourages all applicants to demonstrate proof of concept as well as the potential for taking results to scale and generating new knowledge.
The call is limited to the following countries, and applicants must have existing operations in the countries applied for: the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda.
