In the 50 years of energy cooperation, Tanzania has achieved remarkable progress within hydropower development, energy infrastructure and rural electrification. Norway has contributed to the cooperation with energy experts, training and financial support.

The cooperation between the two countries has led to increased capacity within the energy sector through, for example, support to female engineers and higher educational programs within renewable energy . The cooperation has also included support to electrification and capacity building in Zanzibar.
