Norads klimatime: Hvorfor forebygge og bekjempe korrupsjon er avgjørende for å lykkes med REDD+?

Styresettanalytiker Estelle Fach fra UN-REDD vil besøke Norad for å snakke om hvorfor forebygging og bekjemping av korrupsjon er avgjørende for å lykkes med REDD +.

Hun vil illustrere noen mulige svakheter og farer, men også viktige muligheter om hvordan REDD + kan forbedre styresett og anti-korrupsjonsarbeid. Dessuten vil hun beskrive noen av de tidlige innsatser og tiltak for åpenhet og innsyn i REDD + initiert i land som er støttet av UN-REDD-program.

"Why preventing and combating corruption is crucial for the success of REDD+"

Good and efficient governance of forest resources and the distribution of benefits will be central to the success of REDD+ policies. For example, if the allocation of forest or carbon rights is uncertain, or if corruption is perceived as high, stakeholders will not take the risk of forgoing the income they derive from their current use of forest resources.

UNDP/UN-REDD Programme Knowledge and Governance Analyst Ms Estelle Fach will visit Norad to share with us why preventing and combating corruption is crucial for the success of REDD+. She will illustrate some potential weaknesses and risks, but also key opportunities, stressing how REDD+ can enhance governance and anti-corruption efforts. Moreover, she will describe some of the early efforts and initiatives in transparency and accountability for REDD+ initiated in countries supported by the UN-REDD Programme.
