Norad received 173 applications
Norad received 173 applications for the NORHED main call by 15 March. The validated results and partners granted funding will be concluded before 1st July 2013.
NORHED`s objective is to contribute to capacity development for higher education and research in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC) within six thematic sub-programmes.
Great diversity
The result shows applicants from all of NORHEDs geographic listed areas Africa, Middle-East, Asia and Latin-America, divided between the sub-programmes: Education and training, Health, Natural resource management, climate change and environment, Democratic and economic governance, Humanities, culture, media and communication and Capacity development in South Sudan.
In general, the three sub-programs Education and training, Health; Natural resource management, climate and environment accounted for the majority of the applications during the main call.
Another trend shows that several of the main higher education institutions in Norway are engaged in NORHED projects together with one or more higher education institutions in the South. Universities in the main cities like Bergen, Oslo, Trondheim accounts for the majority of the project proposals.
The overall annual budget frame for NORHED is estimated in the order of NOK 150 million. The budget frame for individual projects will be at the range of 7-18 million NOK per project for a period of up to five years, with a total project portfolio in the range of 40-50 projects.
Final report on NORHED Seed Funding grants
Norad reminds all agreement partners that the template for final report on NORHED seed funding now is available. The report should be received by Norad before 15 May 2013.
