Frances J. Seymour

Oslo REDD Exchange 2013 Program Committee Chair

Frances Seymour is a Senior Fellow at the Center for Global Development based in Washington, DC, and a Senior Adviser to the David and Lucile Packard Foundation. At CGD, she is leading a project designed to create global consensus on the importance of forest conservation, and to promote results-based financing for REDD+.

From 2006 to 2012, she served as Director General of the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), an international organization headquartered in Indonesia. Prior to CIFOR, Ms. Seymour was the founding director of the Institutions and Governance Program at the World Resources Institute (WRI), served as Director of Development Assistance Policy at World Wildlife Fund, and spent five years in Indonesia as a Program Officer with the Ford Foundation.  She holds an MPA in Development Studies from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University, and a BS in Zoology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Frances is Chair of the Oslo REDD Exchange 2013 Programme Committee, and will moderate Plenary session 1: REDD+ Negotiations and Finance   and  Plenary 3: The Way Forward.
