Arild Angelsen

Professor, School of Economics, Norwegian University of Life Sciences

Arild Angelsen is a Professor at the School of Economics and Business, Norwegian University of Life Sciences (UMB) and a former Scientist and Associate of the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), Indonesia. He has done extensive research on tropical deforestation, environmental income, and forests and climate (REDD+). He has over the past two decades done extensive research and published on causes of tropical deforestation, and its interaction with poverty, tenure and government policies.

More recent work is on how avoided deforestation and forest degradation (REDD+) can be included in a global climate regime, and the national strategies and policies needed to reduce GHG emissions. He has authored and edited several key REDD+ publications.
