Oslo REDD Exchange 2013

Deforestation contributes to an approximate of 15 percent of the world’s CO2 emissions, and threatens the livelihood of millions of the world’s most vulnerable people. Since 2007 Norway has contributed with NOK three billion annually to change this situation.

What are the experiences to date? How can these experiences be used to shape the way forward for REDD+? How can the international community contribute?

29 and 30th October the Norwegian International Climate and Forest Initiative invites over 400 international participants form civil society, government, private business sector and academia to the conference Oslo REDD Exchange 2013 to discuss these issues, and to contribute to pushing the REDD+ agenda forward.

Issues to be addressed

After five years on the international and national policy arena REDD+ has gained considerable influence in the international debate on climate, forests and green development strategies, and much has been done both internationally and nationally to contribute to a reduction in deforestation rates.
